ChatGPT Record is a new feature available within the ChatGPT macOS app (for Team workspaces only, for now). It lets users record meetings, brainstorming sessions, or voice notes, then automatically generates structured, editable summaries that become part of your searchable chat history.

It does real-time transcription and generates AI meeting notes in ChatGPT Canvas. It does not have a dedicated meeting repository to document only your meeting notes.

It is not free.

It comes with ChatGPT's Team Plan. Which costs you around $25 per month.

It is a bot-free AI meeting assistant just like Jamie, but it does not have a dedicated meeting repository.  And it's not explicitly GDPR compliant.

Regardless, it has its unique features and functionalities.

I tested this inside the macOS app, and you’ll see a new record button right next to the other voice tools.

When you click it, ChatGPT starts writing down everything being said in real time. You don’t need to take notes and listen at the same time anymore.

After I finished recording, ChatGPT gave me a structured canvas that includes a summary, key takeaways, and action items.

Each point links directly to the exact moment in the transcript where it was said. You can read the summary or click the timestamp and get directed to see the exact moment in the transcript section.

A couple of weeks after your meeting, you can ask ChatGPT things like:

“What were the technical limitations discussed in our Q3 planning?”

And it will give you answers not just from documents and chats, but also from your recorded meetings.

It shows you exactly where in the transcript the information came from.

This basically turns ChatGPT into a second memory that finds decisions, context, and action items instantly. You don’t need to message your teammates asking for details they probably forgot anyway.

ChatGPT Record Interface: Is It Easy To Use?

Honestly, it looks and feels really, very, very simple.

If you're already a heavy ChatGPT user, using Record mode is basically frictionless.

Just open the macOS app, hit the record button, and you're off. Your conversation is captured in real time, and once it’s done, ChatGPT drops a clean, structured canvas right into your chat history.

What I love is that you can keep all these chats inside a project folder in ChatGPT. So if you’re using it regularly for work, meetings, or brainstorms, you can organise them however you want. It’s all there, searchable, and you can come back to it anytime.

That said, it’s not a dedicated meeting notes tool.

It doesn’t auto-organise recordings like some meeting tools do. So if you're not a naturally organised person, it might start to feel cluttered very fast.

You do have to be intentional about where those recordings go and how you manage them inside ChatGPT.

But the part that makes up for that (and then some) is the fact that you can ask ChatGPT anything, and it’ll scan all your past transcripts to find exactly what you're looking for.

That ability to recall context across all your conversations is just overall amazing in my opinion.

It makes the interface feel light, powerful, and, honestly, I’m a big fan.

With that being said, here are my ratings based on just the interface and usability.

Overall, really easy to use, especially if you already use ChatGPT ALOT. Just keep your chats organised, and you’re golden.

ChatGPT Record Integrations

Right now, ChatGPT Record is in the macOS desktop app, and it works beautifully online, without needing a browser extension or bot to join your meetings

🟣 Kind of like how Jamie works.

‍

It’s clean, lightweight, and you can record a session with one click.

BUT, and it’s a big one, ChatGPT Record doesn’t integrate with your calendar at all.

Meeting assistants like Jamie sync with Google Calendar and Outlook to send you smart, mic-based reminders before a meeting starts, but ChatGPT won’t remind you.

If you forget to hit “record,” well... that’s it. You can just forget about getting those notes.

Jamie, for example, not only pings you before a meeting but also notifies you when your mic turns on. And if you’re in a meeting but haven’t started recording, Jamie will give you a heads up. That kind of nudge is super valuable.

Unfortunately, ChatGPT doesn’t do that right now.

Also, there’s no CRM or task manager integration, so if you want to send action items or notes to something like Salesforce, Notion or Asana, you’ll have to copy-paste manually.

It’s amazing inside ChatGPT, especially with how it ties into chat history and memory, but the lack of external workflows is noticeable.

And again, if you forget to record a meeting, it won’t auto-detect it. That’s something you just have to remember to do manually.

Great internal experience, but no integrations yet, and no reminders means there’s a real risk of missing the moment entirely.

ChatGPT Record Customer Support

ChatGPT Record's customer support... is fine.

If you hit a basic issue (like mic permissions on macOS), there’s good documentation, and ChatGPT will even walk you through setup inside the app. I think that's quite easy to follow.

If you need help beyond that, you can open the support chat by clicking the little chat bubble at the bottom right of help.openai.com.

But fair warning, there’s no live person waiting to jump in. It’s mostly email-based or bot-assisted.

If you’re dealing with something more complex (say, the Record button is missing or the app isn’t picking up audio), support may ask you to send them a HAR file, which sounds techy but is basically just a file that shows what’s going on behind the scenes.

They’ll guide you on how to record that if needed.

There’s currently;

🔴 And no “we’ll fix this now” type of experience.

You’re mostly on your own unless it’s a clear bug, especially if you're a team lead trying to roll this out for multiple users.
