Granola vs. Bluedot vs. Jamie: Which Meeting Tool Works Best for You?

I tested Granola vs Bluedot vs Jamie to see which AI note taker actually works when you're stuck in real meetings.
- I went through Granola's live transcription on Mac and Windows,
- I tried Bluedot by downloading their Chrome extension,
- However, neither worked when I went offline.
And I compared Jamie (that's us) to both Granola and Bluedot.
- Jamie works offline and online,
- It includes almost all the features offered by Granola and Bluedot
- It is available on both Windows and macOS.
- And has speaker memory.
But hey, I’m not here to toot our own horn. Jamie also has advantages and disadvantages.
Let me show you what I found after testing all three tools (the good, the bad, and the ugly), and I'll help you find the one that you need the most.
Granola and Bluedot Both Transcribe Meetings, but They Rely on the Internet, Need Constant Setup, and Don’t Adapt to You over Time
Granola: It transcribes in real time and offers AI queries mid-meeting, but only online, and it does not have speaker memory, which means you have to manually identify speakers all the time.
Bluedot: It supports multiple templates and real-time help, but it’s chained to Chrome, lacks speaker memory, and fails outside the browser or without wifi. You’re stuck if you’re offline or in-person.
Shared Weaknesses: Neither tool works offline, remembers speakers, or adapts over time. You’re left repeating yourself, resetting everything, and hoping the wifi holds up during in-person meetings.
Jamie as the Fix: Jamie works offline or online, remembers speakers automatically, and needs no setup; just start talking. It adapts to you, not the other way around.

Features | Granola vs Bluedot vs Jamie
TL;DR
- Jamie: Works offline, remembers speakers over time, and gives smart summaries even on the free plan. Great for online and offline meeting setups.
- Granola: Offers real-time transcription with visual cues and a bot-free experience.
- Bluedot: Has customisable templates, a Chrome-based AI sidebar, and strong post-meeting search. Ideal for browser-based users who want structured notes and analysis.
Here's a table for quick comparison between the tools;
Jamie Features
Works Offline
Jamie does not need the internet to function during a meeting. You can work from a coffee shop with spotty Wi-Fi, and even during a client meeting in a remote location. Jamie can record all meeting content, regardless of internet connectivity.
It stores the meeting locally on your device, and once you’re back online, it processes the recording and gives you the full transcript and summary.
This is super useful for hybrid or on-the-go teams. I’ve used it in both formal online meetings and casual face-to-face ones, and the process is the same. No disruption if the connection drops, and I don’t have to re-record anything. That’s a lot easier to stay focused during meetings without worrying if the tool is working.
Remembers Speakers Over Time
After using Jamie for about 4-5 meetings, you will notice it starts to label your speakers/people by name without you having to do it manually. At first, you have to identify the speaker’s name manually by listening to short audio clips after the meeting. But once you have done that a few times, Jamie started remembering who was who and tagging them correctly in future meetings.
Instead of seeing “Speaker 1” or “Unknown” you get actual names tied to each comment, which makes the notes feel more accurate and less confusing. It also reduces the manual work over time since you are not re-identifying the same people in every single meeting.
Smart Meeting Summaries
Every time you end a meeting with Jamie, you get an automatic summary that outlines key points, decisions and action items. What stands out is how the notes are structured; they don’t just look like a block of transcribed text. You can see sections based on what was discussed, who’s responsible for what and what decisions were made.
It feels like the summary was written by someone who attended the meeting and understood the context. You don’t have to rewrite or clean up anything before sharing it with my team. And since this summary is available on the free plan, you can use it generously without upgrading just to get this basic functionality. It saves a lot of time when preparing follow-ups or reports after the meeting.
Jamie is a Good Choice If You:
- Need to record and transcribe meetings in offline environments or low-connectivity situations
- Want a tool that automatically learns and remembers speaker names over time
- Prefer a bot-free, cross-platform solution that works with any meeting setup, including face-to-face
Jamie May Not Be the Best Option If You:
- Require video recording alongside audio for your meetings
- Need to upload and transcribe past recordings from external sources
- Rely heavily on advanced integrations or engagement analytics within your workflow
Granola Features
Real-Time Transcription with Visual Feedback

When I used Granola, one of the first things I noticed was the live transcription during the meeting. As people talk, I can see the words appear in real time. There’s even a visual indicator, those “dancing green bars” that let me know the system is capturing audio. That gave me a quick way to check if everything was working without having to leave the meeting.
“Ask Granola” In-Meeting Assistant

During the meeting, I could press Cmd+J to bring up “Ask Granola”. I could type in a question about what was just said, and I’d get the answer from the meeting transcript. For example, I could ask what a teammate said about pricing or a deadline, and Granola would pull it up for me instantly.
But it only works within the context of what was said in the meeting or recent ones. I couldn’t ask general questions or anything outside the archive.
Also, the AI responses aren’t saved in the final meeting notes, so if I wanted to keep something important, I had to copy it manually before ending the session. Still, for quick reference checks in the moment, it was really helpful.
Native Mac/iOS Integration with No Bots (Now Windows Too - Only for Workspace Accounts)

I installed Granola on my Mac and it behaved just like any other native app. It connected to my system audio and mic with no extra permissions, no browser extensions, and no bots in the meeting. That was nice because it was just like Jamie. I didn’t have to worry about it being visible to others in the meeting.
Since it’s tied to the OS, it worked smoothly with Slack Huddles and calendar notifications. The app knew when a meeting was happening based on mic activity and calendar entries.
The only downside is that it doesn’t have a Windows version yet (although I read they are working on one). But if you’re a Mac or iPhone user, the native feel is hard to miss.
Update: They have Windows now, and currently only support workspace Gmails.
Granola is a Good Choice If You:
- Want real-time transcription with live visual feedback during meetings
- Use macOS or iOS and prefer a deeply integrated native experience
- Need a simple, bot-free tool that works quietly in the background
Granola May Not Be the Best Option If You:
- Rely on offline functionality or need to record in low-connectivity environments
- Want automatic speaker memory across meetings to reduce repetitive setup
- Need multi-platform support beyond Mac and iOS for a flexible team setup
Bluedot Features
Multi-Format Meeting Templates

When I tried Bluedot, one of the first things I looked at was the meeting template feature. It has multiple note formats like sales call templates, consulting structures and general purpose layouts. I could switch between them depending on the type of meeting and it felt like the summaries were more tailored to what I needed. Everything was pre-labelled, with sections like “pain points”, “objections” and “next steps” depending on the template I chose.
The benefit here is that I didn’t have to reformat or manually structure my notes every time. Whether it was a sales conversation or a status update, the right format let me focus on listening and contributing rather than documenting. For someone who handles a lot of different meeting types, that kind of structure saves time and keeps things more organised.
AI Chat

Bluedot’s AI chat lets you ask about meeting information. "What did they say about the budget?” or “Any key decisions?”.
You can ask for any information about the current meeting or past notes.
Post-Call Analysis and Data Search

After meetings, I used Bluedot’s post-call analysis tool to dig in. It automatically pulled out action items and let me search for specific phrases or follow-ups. For example, I could type in “next quarter” and it would show me all the places in the transcript where that topic came up. That made it easy to build client updates or prepare for follow-up calls.
The search was fast, and the results came with time stamps, so I could jump to the exact part of the meeting. I also found a feature that lets you filter by speaker or topic, which is helpful if multiple people are talking.
It’s not perfect; sometimes, speaker identification was a little off, but it still gave me enough structure to work with after the meeting was over.
Bluedot is a Good Choice If You:
- Prefer working inside Chrome and want a built-in AI sidebar for quick meeting insights
- Use pre-defined templates to streamline note-taking across different meeting types
- Need post-meeting search tools to revisit decisions, topics, or key action items
Bluedot May Not Be the Best Option If You:
- Need offline access or the flexibility to run meetings outside the Chrome browser
- Want automatic speaker memory across meetings to avoid repeated manual labelling
- Rely on a tool that adapts to hybrid setups, including desktop apps or in-person meetings

What are Customers Saying about Granola vs Bluedot vs Jamie?
Jamie Reviews
What users love:
- "Everyone on my team is using it."
- "As the founder of a still small boutique management consultancy, time is the most important resource. Using Jamie means that I can focus on my actual work and not waste time setting up meetings, etc. In reality, it even means that Jamie saves me the work of a human assistant (approx. 45k annual salary)."
- "One of the things that really stands out to me about Jamie is how it doesn't rely on bots joining my calls. Given how frequently I switch between different meeting platforms, Jamie's ability to seamlessly work without any plugins is a major plus."
- "Jamie has transformed how I manage meetings. This AI tool excels in creating accurate, concise summaries, allowing me to focus on discussions without worrying about note-taking."
- "The fact that it doesn't rely on bots to join meetings is a great, especially because I frequently switch between various meeting platforms. It's incredibly convenient to have Jamie seamlessly integrate without needing any pesky plugins."
Common complaints:
- "Relatively new tool certainly still has potential for optimization."
- "Jamie excels in creating precise meeting summaries, but it’s worth noting that it shines brightest once it learns your specific terminology. This initial setup, requiring some hands-on input, is a small investment for the tailored accuracy and efficiency it offers in the long run."
- "So far, nothing to complain about. Still exploring."
- "I think maybe they should adjust their pricing a bit, but that's my personal take."
- "Sometimes the transcript may have a few minor hiccups but that's mainly due to the bad audio quality in our meeting room."

Granola Reviews
What users love:
- "Easy to set up and runs quietly in the background.
- Accurate discussion summaries with the backup transcript available."
- "I love that you can blend shorthand with AI notes. It's also super intuitive and super easy to use.
Common complaints:
- "I wish the templates offered a clearer option to collect data in either bullet points or paragraph form from the start. Right now, it seems to adapt based on how you give feedback over time, which is great—but it would be even better to configure that preference up front for consistency."
- "On rare occasions, it fails to trigger, but I will usually see it pop up and will begin the meeting notes."
- "I just wish they had an iOS app for my iPhone."

Bluedot Reviews
What users love:
- "Easy usability & quick transcription of meetings."
- "Bluedot gives us high-quality transcripts right after each meeting, and there’s no need to invite bots or send special links.
- "Used it as a test for 5 calls, speaking English and my native language — perfect transcription.
Common complaints:
- "The prices are quite high for the functionalities."
- "Not being able to set sorting rules for the entire workspace, but I know they're working on that"
- "Some new features can be a bit unstable at first, and it would be great to see more integrations with other tools."

Final Verdict: Granola, Bluedot or Our Jamie?
Picking the right meeting assistant comes down to one thing:
Does it work without getting in your way?
Here's what I found.
Granola works well if you use a Mac. It runs quietly and transcribes in real time. Setup is simple. I liked how it stayed out of my way. But it has problems. No speaker memory. Needs internet to work. Good for quick notes. I would say it's great for teamwork, but overall, with changing meeting types, it isn't flexible enough for different meeting scenarios, such as offline and online, as well as no speaker memory, etc.
Bluedot gives you templates for different meetings. I used the Chrome sidebar and search features. It has lots of features you can choose from. If you want bots, you have the option to toggle them on and off.
If you want only the audio recording, not the transcript, you have that option. But you're stuck in the browser, and it might make you stressed out trying to toggle the settings, as there are quite a lot of options you need to toggle on.
You also need an internet connection, so it might become a hassle for in-person meetings where internet is quite crappy.
In short;
- Use Granola if you want simple note-taking with no bots with conversational intelligence.
- Use Bluedot if you want note-taking with no bots and want to change your mind about bots later, so you can toggle it back on.
- Use Jamie, if you’re done compromising.
You want your meeting notes to just happen,
- Online or offline,
- On any video conferencing platform,
- With speaker names automatically identified for you,
- And human-like meeting summaries with the help of advanced topic detection technology that auto detects meeting types. Think of it as you always get your meeting notes according to the most preferred meeting template without you having to lift a finger. (We still do have the options for you to create your own template, but our technology also does it automatically for you)
- No bots, no browser limits, no stress.
- Just amazing notes.
Now it's up to you.
